Look, no guitar! Or any other kind of a stringed instrument for that matter. Still got the good ol’ melodica in there though :-)
With the election on it’s probably no surprise it kinda played into this tune a little bit. I guess thinking about who I was going to vote for, listening to various people giving out about various things filtered down into the lyrics somewhat. There’s an awful lot of pissed off people hereabouts…
I had fun messing around with drum loops, beat repeaters, pan pots and vocal recording methods here. I seem to sing louder without headphones on, need to figure out how to do that without peaking the bejaybus out of the take. I was lucky here in that I ended up liking the crunch. It might be an acquired taste though…
lyrics
We read about our heroes,
Defining by what we are not,
The past offers no comfort,
To current situation,
And I could go on.
Standing on the shoulders of blood.
The winners write the history,
The losers pay the price,
The whiners go on whining,
While the good put up the fight.
Standing on the shoulders of blood,
Standing on the shoulders of giants,
Standing on the shoulders of love,
Standing on the shoulders of giants.
Standing on the shoulders of blood.
Standing on the shoulders of blood.
There's someone acting stupid,
Acting the maggot more like,
If I could sum up this country,
It would be with the wink of an eye,
And I could go on.
There's a feeling in the wires,
There's someone in the night,
Who's putting out the fires,
That everyone else did light.
Standing on the shoulders of blood.
Standing on the shoulders of blood.
Standing on the shoulders of blood,
Standing on the shoulders of giants,
Standing on the shoulders of love,
Standing on the shoulders of giants.
