False North 03:23
Hail, Hail to the world, To the shining light, To the dark out yonder. The stars of the city, You look so pretty, Turning in circles, Like destiny arriving. Hold on to nothing, So nothing can harm you, So nothing can hurt you. So nothing can break you, So desperate to say yes, So desperate to impress, So desperate to be loved, But too scared to say so. | will change your mind, I will kiss your tears, I will break your heart and then I'll disappear. I am nothing, Nothing without you, Change is gonna come though But I think that it'll make us stronger. Welcome to False North. Eyes on the big prize, Life on a small stage, With nothing to be afraid of. Hold on to nothing, So nothing can harm you, So nothing can hurt you. So nothing can break you, Last drink downing, Last bus calling, Lost in all these people, Bruised battered and bleeding. All out in the open, The key that just won't turn, The lock that we break, The door we kick down, Destiny arriving. Hold on to nothing, So nothing can harm you, So nothing can hurt you, So nothing can break you.

You can read about the money, And talk about the past. Design your better motives, And cheat them to the last, But every message you could give them, Is then poisoned by your recent chequered past. We are counting out the money, Evaluating shame, We are trying to revise the dues, The passions we berated, We are locked out of your room, We are banished to the coming gloom. This is the last saloon for dancing, This is the church of second chances, It's alright. When you realise the difference, That you make on funeral day, When you try to take your load off, You are shocked and dismayed, To find your credit is no good, And you've been pawned of everything that you believed. We are counting out the money, Evaluating shame, We are trying to revise the dues, The passions we berated, We are locked out of your room, We are banished to the coming gloom. This is the last saloon for dancing, This is the church of second chances, It's alright. Help me to understand, Help me lend my hands, I am no good.

My young love said to me, My mother won't mind. And my father won't slight you, For your lack of kind. And she stepped away from me, And this she did say, "It will not be long love, 'Till our wedding day". She stepped away from me, And she moved through the fair. And fondly I watched her, Move here, and go there. And she made her way homeward, With one star awake. As the swan in the evening, Moves over the lake. The people were saying, No two were ever wed. But one has a sorrow, That never was said. And she smiled as she passed, With her goods and her gear, And that was the last I saw of my dear. I dreamt last night that my one true love came in. So softly she entered, Her feet they made no din. And she came close beside me, And this she did say, "It will not be long love, 'Till our wedding day".

I used to think that my thoughts were the strangest of dreams Till I realised what the songs that you sing in your dreams mean. It means that you're learning, it means you compare, To the ways in the main that connect what you know With what you feel from life. You search for the meaning, the sonics of science And threads from the tale of souls that you're shaping, Balls that you're breaking, Sucked from the void that becomes the morass I want you to know now. I want you to know I want you to know now. I want you to know. I laugh at people and they often take it in vain Or realise that it's nothing to laugh at a joke. And it's wiser to smile and be thought of as stupid, That to vomit your words and remove all the doubt. See we've been trained to advantage We've been dressed for a purpose And we perform like dogs when the rabbit goes by. But it feels like it's right And it's hard to reverse The course of nature that naturally flows from our words, I want you to know now. I want you to know I want you to know now. If you've got something on your mind You'd better take the time to come and talk about it.
