Here’s a tune I can see myself listening while I’m driving around on a sunny bank holiday weekend.
Aah, serendipity… If you’re not in Ireland, it’s the beginning of a la-la-la-long weekend and the weather is smashing. I’m playing the Flat Lakes Festival this weekend which I’m looking forward to immensely, having heard oodles of good things about it.
I really let the ‘stream’ (as in the stream-of-consciousness) take over for this lyric, so I’m sure it makes sense, but it feels right, so I’m going with it. It’s a nice, perky tune though I may have gone a little bit too hard with that bass thingy that comes in about half way through. I really like it at the moment, but it’s the kind of thing that I might end up regretting. Also, this tune is short. There’s a couple of 6 or 7 minute epics in the recent past on TS@aW but this little sucker is sub 3 minutes.
lyrics
I was older than the hills before I walked,
Younger than my years when I talked,
And every word I said,
Was a length of rope to hang myself with.
My hands are aching,
My tongue is a problem,
But my feet keep walking,
They keep asking me questions.
Who are you now?
And where’re we going to?
What are the chances of flying?
I was older than the hills before I walked,
Younger than my years when I talked,
But can you tell me when you’re dying inside,
Can you wait until the feeling fades?
What’s up for the other man?
Trying to understand,
Things in life that get him down,
A straw to break his back,
Each time he give out.
I was older than the hills before I walked,
Younger than my years when I talked,
And every word I said,
Was a length of rope to hang myself with.
Who are you now?
And where’re we going to?
Why don’t you ask me a question,
And see where it leads you?
Who are you now?
And where’re you going to?
And tell me what is the plan?
I was older than the hills before I walked,
Younger than my years when I talked,
But can you tell me when you’re dying inside,
Can you wait until the feeling fades?
But tell me when you’re dying inside,
Can you wait until the feeling fades?
But tell me when you’re dying inside,
Can you wait until the feeling fades?
